Established in 1909

Otto & Sons was founded in 1909 by Otto Kolschowsky, a German immigrant to America, as a family-owned butcher shop in the Chicago area. His sons joined the business in 1917.

Global Expansion

In 1955, Otto & Sons was selected by McDonald’s, then a start-up in Illinois, as its first supplier of fresh ground beef. While developing fast in the U.S., we made a strategic move to expand to Europe in the late 1970s and Asia Pacific in the 1980s, turning us into a global quality meat supplier.

Today

Fast forward to today: Otto & Sons has grown into OSI Group, one of the world’s largest food makers, providing innovative food solutions for beef, poultry, pork, fish, pizza, baked goods, produce and more. We remain a privately-owned company and have become a global purveyor of quality foods to many of the world’s leading brands.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

We still operate with the same entrepreneurial spirit that is part of our heritage. It has driven our success and has resulted in us being ranked #63 on the 2018 Forbes list of America’s largest private companies.
